Our team

GUARD is led by a multidisciplinary team that brings together expertise in applied AI research, cybersecurity, and commercialisation. Our mission is to advance the trustworthy and explainable use of AI in protecting digital ecosystems.​

 

Dr. Chidimma Opara

Project Lead​

Dr. Opara is a Lecturer in Computer Science at Teesside University and leads the GUARD project’s research efforts. Her work focuses on applied AI for cybersecurity, spanning areas such as online fraud detection and the protection of virtual transaction platforms.

Dr. Mohammad A. Razzaque​

Dr. Razzaque is an Associate Professor (Research & Innovation) at Teesside University’s School of Computing and Co-lead on GUARD. He has more than 15 years of research and industrial collaboration experience, with active involvement in four Innovate UK–funded projects across AI and cybersecurity.
